②Oil pumping When the eccentric wheel rotates through a certain angle and no longer pushes the rocker arm, the pump membrane spring stretches and the jacking pump membrane rises, pushing gasoline from the delivery valve to the float chamber of the carburetor.
Generally, the maximum fuel supply of a gasoline pump is 2.5 to 3.5 times larger than the maximum fuel consumption of a gasoline engine. When the pump oil volume is greater than the fuel consumption and the needle valve of the carburetor float chamber is closed, the pressure in the oil pump outlet pipeline increases, which is reflected in the oil pump, which shortens the diaphragm stroke or stops working.
2. Electric gasoline pump
The working condition of the electric gasoline pump is that it does not rely on the camshaft to drive, but relies on electromagnetic force to repeatedly suck the pump membrane. This kind of electric pump can freely choose the installation position and can prevent the phenomenon of air lock.
The gasoline pump of the electronically controlled gasoline injection system generally adopts a new impeller-type electric pump and is installed in the gasoline tank. Its pumping pressure is also higher than that of the gasoline pump of the carburetor fuel supply system.
Safety precautions for fuel pump failure detection
1. Old fuel pump
When troubleshooting a vehicle fuel pump that has been used for a long time, this type of fuel pump cannot be dry tested. Because when the fuel pump is removed, there is fuel remaining in the pump casing. During the energization test, once the brushes and the commutator are in poor contact, a spark will ignite the fuel in the pump casing and cause an explosion. Very serious.
2. New fuel pump
No dry test shall be carried out on the newly replaced fuel pump. Because the fuel pump motor is sealed in the pump housing, the heat generated by the power on during the dry test cannot be dissipated. Once the armature is overheated, the motor will be burned. Therefore, the fuel pump must be immersed in fuel for the test.
3. Other aspects
After the fuel pump leaves the fuel tank, the fuel pump should be wiped clean in time, sparks should be avoided near it, and the safety principle of "wire first, then power on" should be followed.
