In the automobile ignition system, it can convert the battery voltage (12v) into the high voltage required for the ignition and combustion of the spark plug.

With the development of automobile gasoline engines in the direction of high speed, high compression ratio, high power, low fuel consumption and low emissions, traditional ignition devices are no longer suitable for use requirements. The core components of the ignition device are the ignition coil and the switch device. By increasing the energy of the ignition coil, the spark plug can generate a spark with sufficient energy. This is the basic condition for the ignition device to adapt to the operation of modern engines.

There are two sets of coils in the usual ignition coil, the primary coil and the secondary coil. The primary coil uses a thicker enameled wire, usually about 0.5-1mm enameled wire around 200-500 turns; the secondary coil uses a thinner enameled wire, usually about 0.1mm enameled wire around 15000-25000 turns. One end of the primary coil is connected to the low-voltage power supply (+) on the vehicle, and the other end is connected to the switch device (breaker). One end of the secondary coil is connected with the primary coil, and the other end is connected with the output end of the high-voltage line to output high-voltage electricity.

Precautions for the use of ignition coil

• Prevent the ignition coil from being heated or damp: do not turn on the ignition switch if the engine is not running
• Frequently check and clean the joints of the fastening lines to avoid short circuits or grounding: control the performance of the engine and prevent the voltage from being too high
• Spark plugs must not be suspended for a long time: the moisture on the ignition coil should be wiped dry with a cloth, and must not be baked with fire, otherwise it will damage the ignition coil
