The fuel pump consists of an electric motor, a pressure limiter, and a check valve. The electric motor actually works in the fuel in the fuel pump housing. Don’t worry, because there is nothing in the housing that can be ignited. The fuel can lubricate and cool the fuel motor. There is a check valve, and the pressure limiter is located on the pressure side of the oil pump housing, with a passage leading to the oil inlet.

The maximum pump oil pressure of the fuel pump depends on the standard of the pressure limiter. If the pressure of the fuel pump exceeds the predetermined pressure limit, the pressure limiter will open the bypass to allow the fuel to flow back to the fuel pump inlet.
Testing method of fuel pump performance
Some hard faults (such as failure to work, etc.) of automobile fuel pumps are easier to judge, but some intermittent soft faults are difficult to judge. In this regard, the method of detecting the operating current of the fuel pump by the automobile digital multimeter can be used to judge its performance, and the specific method is as follows.
(1) Put the automobile digital multimeter in the current block, press the function key (SELECT) to adjust to the direct current (DC) block, and then connect the two meter pens in series to the connection line of the tested fuel pump.
(2) Start the engine and press the dynamic recording key (MAX/MIN) of the automobile digital multimeter when the fuel pump is working, and the maximum and minimum currents of the fuel pump can be automatically recorded when the fuel pump is working. By comparing the detected data with the normal value, the cause of the failure can be judged
