② Oil pumping When the eccentric wheel rotates at a certain angle and no longer pushes the rocker arm, the pump diaphragm spring stretches, the lift pump diaphragm rises, and the gasoline is pushed out of the valve fuel supply line to carburetor float chamber.
Generally speaking, the maximum fuel supply of the gasoline pump is 2.5 to 3.5 times the maximum fuel consumption of the gasoline engine. When the oil volume of the oil pump is greater than the oil consumption and the needle valve of the carburetor float chamber is closed, the pressure in the outlet line of the oil pump increases, which reflects on the oil pump, which shortens the diaphragm stroke or stops working.
2. Electric fuel pump
The working state of the electric fuel pump is that it is not driven by the camshaft, but repeatedly sucks the pump diaphragm by electromagnetic force. This electric pump can freely choose the installation position to avoid the air lock phenomenon.
The fuel pump of the electronically controlled fuel injection system generally adopts a new turbine-type electric pump, which is installed in the fuel tank. Its pumping pressure is also higher than that of the gasoline pump of the carburetor fuel system.
Safety Precautions for Fuel Pump Failure Detection
1. Old fuel pump
When troubleshooting a long used automotive fuel pump, it is not possible to dry test this type of fuel pump. Because when the fuel pump is removed there is still fuel left in the pump housing. During the power-up test, once the brush and the commutator make poor contact, the spark will ignite the fuel in the pump body and cause an explosion. very serious.
2. New fuel pump
Newly replaced fuel pumps should not be dry tested. Since the fuel pump motor is sealed in the pump body, the heat generated by power-on during the dry test cannot be dissipated. Once the armature overheats, the motor burns out. Therefore, the fuel pump must be submerged in fuel for testing.
3. Other aspects
After the fuel pump leaves the fuel tank, the fuel pump should be wiped clean in time to avoid nearby sparks and follow the safety principle of "wire first, then turn on".
